At 4:24pm BST on 22 July 2013, Britain the world welcomed another heir to the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

The little boy who we would later come to know as His Royal Highness, Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, spent his first few hours inside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London in secrecy.  His mother and father, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge,  wanted just a few hours where they did not have to share him with the world at all.

On 23 June a radiant Duchess of Cambridge emerged carrying the baby the world had waited so long to see…you remember #TheGreatKateWait don’t you?

In a moment that could not possibly have been scripted, after a wave from the Duke and a wave from the Duchess for the crowds we saw a tiny hand emerge from a white shawl…Prince George gave his first “royal wave” to the crowds.

After a few moments posing for photos and answering a few questions (some posed by our friend Paul  Harrison of Sky News), the Duke and Duchess returned inside the safety of St. Mary’s and soon re-emerged with Prince George in his carseat for the ride to Kensington Palace.

The next time we got a look, and it was our first really good look, at Prince George was when the Palace chose to release two official photos of the family that were taken in the back garden at the Middleton family home in Bucklebury, Berkshire.

While we saw the Duchess out grocery shopping or traveling to or from London to Anglesey, we had to wait until his Christening to get another good look at Prince George and it turned out to be our best look at him so far.  All reports are that the young prince was very well behaved for his big day

After his Christening it was a good 6 months before we saw Prince George, by now nicknamed “Cheeks”, again.  We got several good looks when he joined his parents for their overseas tour of Australia and New Zealand.

When they arrived in New Zealand, it may have been a yucky weather day but George was ready to get down on that tarmac and GO…and the Duke and Duchess looked so happy!

In New Zealand the young prince hosted a playdate at Government House for babies involved with Plunket.

After being a great host, he needed cuddles from Mummy and we got the most adorable photo of the tour.

When the family left New Zealand it was another rainy day (man, it rained a LOT that tour) but we got our first great pictures since the Lindo Wing of Prince George being held by Prince William and we all just MELTED.

It was all sunshine when they arrived in Sydney.  His appearance at the airport may have been brief but we got two further images that night when George came face to face with a large Wombat!

The family celebrated Easter with a visit to the zoo, and Prince George opened the Bilby Exhibit that was named after him.

Then it was off on the last part of the tour as they headed for Canberra.  At the airport in Canberra a perfectly color coordinated George was not at all fond of the idea of getting in his carseat but it happened anyway.

the next time we saw George he was saying farewell to Australia.

It was a successful tour and we were hopeful we would see more of Prince George when he got back home, but he decided to stay out of sight until he watched his Daddy play polo on Father’s Day…he was so cute and he was starting to WALK!

After that fun outing and speculation that Prince George should go help out the World Cup Team it was two weeks before anyone caught sight of George again, but it would be almost 3 weeks after that reported sighting before we actually SAW the photos.  The first of three was released Saturday, and the other two were released just last night.

It’s been fun watching you grow this first year, Your Royal Highness, and we can’t wait to watch you over the next year!
